March was a busy month at Seneca Lake Terrace. The residents kept busy with outings, musical entertainment, and fun games. The residents were invited to a beef stew dinner provided by our Lady of Peace Parrish. The dinner was delicious and after dinner the residents played BINGO where two residents won prizes! The festival of Nations put on by local community sponsors was a lot of fun. The residents were able to sample different foods and watch different dances and learn new customs. The Boys and Girls Scouts made special accommodations for our residents to attend.
The Wii bowling league has started. The names of the teams are “The Tornatos”, “The Alley Catz”, and “The Holy Rollers”. Come watch the teams play and see who will win. Good luck and GO TEAMS!
The St. Patrick’s Day celebration was held on Friday March 16th. Party favors were handed out to the resident’s and they were served Shamrock Shakes and chocolate cup cakes with green frosting. St. Frances/St. Stephens Junior Chorus came in and sang Irish songs. The singers did an excellent job and came in green attire. Our “Spring Fling” party was held on Friday March 23rd. The residents were served pink lemonade and cupcakes with pink lemonade frosting made by our cooking club. The residents nominated a “Spring Fling” Queen and King for the party. The winners were given a crown made by the Memory Care Residents.
APRIL NEWS:
Spring is here! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the activities at Seneca Lake Terrace are booming. We have lots of music planned for April. Entertainers are: John D’Arpeno and Sergei on the guitar and accordion, The Country gentleman which is a 4 or 5 member band and Nick Humphrey and Bob Lyna will be here during the month of April just to name a few!
On Friday April 6th we will be having children here from the “Church of Jesus Christ” from 2-4p.m. The children will perform a country line and Chinese dance in the D-wing living room. After the dance we will move into the main living room for skits and a sing-a-long with the children. The children will then join us for our Easter celebration, which will include and Easter Egg Hunt followed by light snacks and a beverage. There are 25 children coming for this event and each child will be paired with a resident for the Easter Egg Hunt. Any resident wanting to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt, please see Elaine. This will be a fun activity, so be sure to mark your calendars.
On Wednesday April 18th we will be going on a special outing called “Dinner & Show”. The Glen Miller Orchestra will be performing at the Smith Opera House. Tickets for the show are $15.00 per person. We will be going out to dinner at Dana’s Time Out. We will be leaving Seneca Lake Terrace at 4:30p.m. The cost of dinner is not included in the price of the ticket. FEBRUARY RECAP:
February was a “Party Month”. The super bowl party was a fun filled exciting night. The resident’s enjoyed the party hats and snacks. Congratulations to all the Giants football fans. The Valentine’s Day celebration was a huge hit. The resident’s were surprised by all the Valentine’s Day cards and goodies that they received. Many resident’s stated that this was the nicest party all year! The music that was provided for the celebration was “Live Music with Jeneane”. The resident’s snacked on chocolate cupcakes and cheese cake truffles.
Mardi Gras was a special day here at Seneca Lake Terrace, each resident received a mask and tried to pull the special bead out of the mix of beads to see who was going to have the “luck” for the remainder of the year. The winner of this game received a light-up Mardi Gras necklace. The Daytona 500 Racing game was a success! Each participant got to keep their race car and the winner of the race received a gold trophy and took home the checkered flag! Fun was had by everyone who attended this activity.
Seneca Lake Terrace also held their monthly Birthday Party and each resident who has a birthday in February received a gift and card.
MARCH NEWS:
We are looking forward to Spring which is right around the corner! We have lots of activities scheduled for the month of March. Some of our entertainment this month are Bob Hanley on the piano, Kristin Chiavaroli playing her violin, Blair Frodelius playing her guitar and a four part harmony group called The Seneca Soundwaves. Blair Frodelius is a new entertainer and plays a large variety of music from country to modern day music. She will be performing on Monday March 19th at 2:00p.m. Please come and give her a warm welcome!
There are two new outings scheduled for the Month of March. On Tuesday March 20th, our Lady of Peace Parish will be hosting a beef stew dinner. We will be leaving Seneca Lake Terrace at 5:00p.m. And dinner will be served at 6:00p.m. There is no cost to this event. Please sign up early as seating is limited! The second outing will be on Saturday, March 31st. This event is being put on by the Boys & Girls Scouts and is called the Festival of Nations. Many local restaurants will be offering free samples of food and local groups will be performing songs and dance. This too is free admission and again seats are limited. We will be leaving Seneca Lake Terrace at 1:00p.m. and returning around 3:00p.m.
The Wii bowling league will be starting and the first meeting scheduled is on Wednesday March 7th. If you are interested in joining, please mark your calendars and come to this meeting. On this date, we will be picking teams plus scheduling dates and times of when we will be playing. This is one of our biggest activities where we get the most residents involved. If you do not want to join a league, you are always welcome to come watch the teams and cheer them on! On March 16th we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. St. Francis/St. Stephens Junior High Chorus will be performing at 11:00a.m. At 3:00p.m. we will be having Irish music, games, prizes and festive snacks. Don’t forget to wear your green!
On March 23rd we will be having our Spring Fling Party during our Happy Hour social. The party starts at 3:00p.m. and we will be welcoming Spring! The party will be filled with music, dancing and Spring snacks. We hope to see you all there!

January is a great month for new starts while celebrating the New Year. For the month of January we would like to introduce some changes to our old activities while introducing new activities.
New activities:
Treasure Chest—this activity will be held on Tuesday January 10th.
We will be going through a chest of old memorabilia and past events leading to reminiscing and socializing. This is a fun event for everyone. The treasure chest was put together by The Pioneer Library.
Take A Stand—This new activity will be held on Friday January 20th. This activity is an exercise program that mainly focuses on your legs. These exercises can be done either by standing or sitting and takes only 15 minutes. Non strenuous and fun!
Our live entertainment this month will be Mike Kornrich on the guitar, Howie Bartolo singer and flute player, Bob Povero on the piano and finally, Walt Dixon on the accordion just to name a few.
Please check your calendar closely as some shopping trips have changed to different days of the week.

December is packed with many live musical performers and special events! What a great way to celebrate the Holiday Season! Seneca Lake Terrace will be welcoming some new musical entertainment this month, with Kristin Chiavaroli, playing her violin and Allen Shaw who plays the harmonica. We are also welcoming Carols Country Trio who will perform on December 12th. Following the December 12th performance, we will be taking a ride to view all the holiday lights. We will be returning from the ride at 7:00p.m. just in time for the Boys and Girls Club Christmas Caroling and hot chocolate.
On December 23rd Seneca Lake Terrace will be having their Annual Christmas Party. Seneca Lake Terrace’s Chorus will be performing holiday songs. The chorus has been practicing very hard, they are looking forward to sharing their wonderful talent with the rest of the residents and staff here at Seneca Lake Terrace. Refreshments and snacks will be served during this event.
We have brought Crafters Corners back due to the many craft projects that we have for the holidays. These projects will make excellent gifts for family and friends. This activity will be held every Friday at 1:30p.m. in the ice cream parlor. We also have shopping trips scheduled for this month for any holiday shopping that needs to be done. Please mark your calendar and sign up early for these shopping events.
Our New Year’s Eve Party will be held on December 30th at 3:00p.m. We will be having our champagne toast and serving shrimp cocktail during this celebration. Please join us for this celebration, reminisce about 2011 and ring in the New Year!

While we are enjoying the colors of Fall and the cooler weather, we all know that Winter is right around the corner. Seneca Lake Terrace has many activities scheduled to make the transition smoother from Fall to upcoming Winter months.
We will be honoring our Veterans for their service to our country on November 11th. Each veteran will be given a certificate of recognition along with a pin. Please make sure you mark your calendars and join us to celebrate and honor these individuals!
Our Annual Thanksgiving Day celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd. The staff will begin serving dinner at noon. The cost will be $7.00 per person and each resident is limited to 2 guests. Please RSVP to Cindy Brown or Cheryl Eveland by November 15th for this event! This is a wonderful way to celebrate the Thanksgiving season with residents, staff and families, as well as meet others. From all of us here at Seneca Lake Terrace, we would like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Seneca Lake Terrace’s residents are ready to welcome Fall! On Wednesday October 5th, Seneca Lake Terrace has scheduled an outing called ―Music, Meditation & Munchies held at St. John’s Chapel at Hobart and William Smith College. This event will feature organ music played by Mary Ann Hamilton and there will also be poetry and meditation. The residents will bring a bagged lunch and dessert will be served compliments of the college. Please see Elaine to sign up for this outing.
We are pleased to announce that we have two new entertainers scheduled for the month of October. On Monday, October 3rd, at 2:00p.m. ―The Roy Ritteer Band will be performing. If you enjoyed ―Lori Jane and the Cowboys you will enjoy this band. We also have a new performer scheduled for Monday October 17th @ 2:00p.m. named ―Ray Braselton. On Monday, October 24th at 2:00p.m. Steve Ingram will be here to perform a magic show. Come see the mysteries of magic!
On Sunday, October 23rd, The United States Field Band and Soldiers Chorus will be performing at 3:00p.m. at the Smith Opera House. The van will be departing from Seneca Lake Terrace promptly at 2:15p.m. due to seating and parking. According to the Smith Opera House’s web site, ―The United States Army Field Band is considered by music critics to be one of the most versatile and inspiring musical organizations in the world. Please mark your calendars and notify Elaine Hilliard if you would like to attend this event.
Our annual Halloween party will be held on Monday October 31st @ 2:00p.m. We will have our Halloween costume contest followed by Halloween treats and witches brew! The children from the Boys and Girls Club will also be here on that day to trick-or-treat. Please remember that all candy must be in original wrappers. This event will start at 3:45p.m. and end at 5:00p.m. Residents can sign up for shopping trips which are scheduled on Tuesdays. This is a great way to purchase candy or see Elaine for other arrangements.

We have added some exciting entertainment to the September calendar! On Tuesday September 6th, we have “barber shop” music scheduled. The singers are new to Seneca Lake Terrace and are called “What” Hey Gentleman! The Seneca Sound Waves will be performing on Wednesday September 21st. The Seneca Sound waves Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adeline‟s International. Their mission is to learn and share the art of singing four-part a capella harmony in barber shop style. Other new entertainers scheduled are “The Marbles”, this group plays a wide variety of songs.
On September 16th we will be celebrating National Assisted Living Week by having an afternoon celebration from 2:00 TO 4:00p.m. During this celebration, there will be live entertainment as well as hors d’oeuvre and refreshments. Later that evening of the 16th, the “Lake Side Country Cloggers” will be performing in the courtyard if weather permits. If the weather is cold or rainy, the performance will be held in the main living room. The Lakeside Country Cloggers is an Appalachian style performance dance team based in Rochester, NY. Audiences love their toe-tapping, enthusiastic and high-energy dancing, so mark your calendars foe a day and evening of entertainment!
On Friday, September 23rd the residents will be going on the Esperanza Rose for a lunch cruise. The cost of this event is $36.00 which includes the boat tour and a delicious lunch. Seats are limited so be sure to sign up early with Elaine. As always, please check the calendar for exciting events and wonderful entertainment!

Seneca Lake Terrace will be having a “Luau Party” on Friday August 5th @ 2:30p.m. Lansing Day, will perform for this celebration festive music. The residents will be served a Luau Themed snack, so be sure to wear your floral attire for this special event such as floral shirts, leis, grass skirts, or Hawaiian themed hats!
The Seneca Park Zoo Butterfly Program will be here on Wednesday August 17th at 10:00a.m. The employees of the Butterfly Program will give a presentation on the life of a Monarch Butterfly. The residents will be able to release butterflies from our garden. This event is very informative and is an event that is enjoyed year after year. We will be serving light refreshments and snacks. This event will take place out on the patio off of the main dining room.
On August 31st @ 3:30p.m. we will be having our Fall League Wii Bowling meeting. Teams will be formed as well as creating team names. Please see Elaine if you have any questions about this activity. Be sure to check your calendar for entertainment, trips and special visitors!

Summer is finally here and the residents have been enjoying the warmer weather. Seneca Lake Terrace’s 4th of July celebration will be held on Friday July 1st. The Seneca Lake Terrace Chorus group will perform at 3:00p.m. during the celebration. Light snacks and refreshments will be served after the performance. On July 4th, the residents will be served a patriotic themed dessert in the afternoon along with a performance by Sam Francis who will be playing patriotic themed songs on the piano in the main living room.
On Wednesday, July 6th the residents will be visiting the Farmers Market in Seneca Falls. The market sells fresh fruits and vegetables along with jewelry and other unique vendors. Following the trip to the Farmers Market, the residents will enjoy lunch at Parker’s restaurant (rain date for this outing will be Wednesday July 20th). If you would like to attend this outing, please see Elaine Hilliard to sign up.
The Wii Bowling League has ended and a league meeting is scheduled for July 6th at 3:30p.m. The winner will be announced at the Wii Bowling party, which will be scheduled at a later date. League bowling was a huge success and participants and spectators are anxious for the next league to begin!
We have new activities scheduled for the month of July. The Geneva Historical Society will be here on Monday July 18th. The Historical Society will be bringing in 19th century costumes and will be sharing the history of these items. We also have a new entertainer scheduled, named “Country Gentleman” on July 25th. Be sure to check your calendar for other exciting events and activities!
